Wine Quiz Answer

Wine Quiz Answer

You are correct!
Wine Quiz Answer:  D. Margaux

The eight grape varieties permitted for use throughout the Bordeaux region are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petite Verdot among reds and Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle among whites. While Margaux is a word steeped in Bordeaux tradition, it is not a grape variety. Margaux is the name of a commune, or village, in the Medoc district which is one of the most famous appellations of Bordeaux. It is also the name of one of the region's most famous estates, Chateau Margaux, ranked among the rare and sought-after 'first growths' ranked Premier Grand Cru Classe in Bordeaux's legendary 1855 Classification.
