| “A Taste of The California Grand Life”
26th Annual Wine, Food & Beer Festival
A Benefit For The Oakland Rotary Endowment
About The Event:
ENGAGE your senses and join us in the beautiful Oakland Museum Courtyard to: SAMPLE exquisite wines and bountiful beer; TASTE delicious offerings from gourmet establishments; LISTEN to sensational music by Jazz Artist Terrence Brewer; LEARN a little more about going Green; and GET EXCITED about Grand Drawing Prizes…all this, and more, while raising much needed funds so that the Rotary Club of Oakland may continue to serve the Oakland community and beyond.
Proceeds from this event are the primary source of financial support for our local and international charitable efforts. With monies raised from last year’s wine and food event, The Rotary Club of Oakland continued to provide services for many individuals, partnered with other organizations, and gave back to the world community at large. Here are just a handful of the service accomplishments The Rotary Club of Oakland participated in:
• Saroni-Lena Scholarship Fund – Awarded $25,000 in scholarships to Oakland high school graduates;
• Camp Enterprise – Celebrating it’s 25th year, this 3 day camp assists selected high school Juniors to focus on business skills;
• Guatemala: Led a matching grant program to provide 5 motorbikes to health outreach workers to remote areas;
• In cooperation with Oakland Sunrise Rotary Club, supported “Faces of Hope” Project to provide cleft palate surgery for children in Guatemala;
• Provided funds to convert a room at the Alameda County Hospital into the “Smiling Sea”, a waiting room for children and their families;
• Purchased a commercial refrigerator for The Bread Project, which provides hard-to-employ individuals with training and hands-on experience to get and keep jobs in the food industry.
