Though I don't know which Beringer cab this is, I would think you'd want to drink it any time now. As with any aged wine, it's a good idea to have a "backup bottle" when you open the star -- perhaps a current vintage of the same wine to pour in case the star wine is not perfect.

Best case scenario: if both are good, you get to have a comparison tasting of two vintages. of a wine you like.

The first question to ask concerns how the wine has been stored - in a real cellar at a stable, cool temperature, or in a wine rack in the living room? This might make all the difference. While I have not tasted this wine recently, I would say that it certainly can be enjoyed at this stage of its life. You can find out information about this specific vintage by visiting beringer.com and clicking on "Retrospective Tasting."
